Northern California Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors Announces Three New Board Members and Looks to Active 2016

January 5, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO – January 05, 2016 – The Northern California Chapter of the National Association Corporate Directors (NACD) announced the election of three new members of the Board of Directors:  Nora Denzel, Dennis Schmal and Dennis Wu.  The Chapter also completed a successful transition year and made plans for new ways to engage members in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco and Sacramento in 2016.

“We are thrilled to add Nora, Dennis and Dennis, three very experienced corporate leaders, to our Chapter Board of Directors, each of whom begin three-year terms in January 2016,” said Lydia Beebe, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Northern California Chapter of NACD.

Denzel currently serves on the boards of three public companies:  Ericsson, AMD and Outerwall.  She also serves on the nonprofit boards of the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and Ushahidi.  Denzel is an experienced corporate executive, having held senior executive positions at HP, IBM and Intuit, including interim CEO at Outerwall.

Schmal currently serves on the boards of three public companies:  Blue Calypso, Owens Realty Mortgage and Merriman Holdings.  He also serves on the corporate boards overseeing public investment funds of Well Fargo Hedge Funds, AssetMark Mutual Funds and Cambria ETF Funds.  Schmal is a senior business advisor with special expertise in finance and financial services and technology industries, having previously served 27 years as a partner with Arthur Anderson.

Wu currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Recology, a 100% employee-owned company.   He is also the Managing Partner and co-founder of WuHoover & Co., LLP, a professional CPA firm. Wu’s career includes 37 years at Deloitte & Touche where he was the founding national partner of Deloitte’s Chinese Services Group, among other visionary service divisions within the firm.  Wu is a member of the Committee of 100, a national organization of prominent Chinese Americans.

“In December we also bid farewell to three Directors whose terms ended in 2015 – Richard Koppes, Jeffery Hodges and Diane Miller.  Each of these retiring directors were founding members of the Northern California Chapter and tireless in their commitment and support of the Chapter – we all owe them a great debt of gratitude for their service and examples of governance excellence,” said Ms. Beebe.
