NACD Northern California Chapter Board of Directors Appoints New Leadership

Chapter selected Lisa Spivey as its new executive director

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (September 19, 2017) –The Northern California Chapter (serving Sacramento, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley) of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) has named Lisa Spivey as its new executive director after an extensive search.

"Lisa Spivey is the ideal replacement for our former executive director, Michael LoBue," said Nora Denzel, the search committee chair.

Spivey has unique experience with nonprofit and corporate administration. Beginning in the early 1980s, she created ventures in the United States and internationally. Over the past 20 years, she has focused on nonprofit executive management including program planning and implementation, project and event management, and stakeholder and sponsor relations.

In addition to Ms. Denzel, the search committee included Chapter Chair Lydia Beebe, Vice Chair Mary Jo Potter, and NACD Regional Director Julie Pitts.

Ms. Spivey added, “I am delighted to serve as the next executive director of the NACD Northern California Chapter and to oversee the mission of the organization. This is a key developmental time in the chapter’s history and in the Northern California director community, and I look forward to working closely with our exceptional board of directors, advisors, local members, and sponsors, as well as the regional and national leadership.”

Ms. Beebe is pleased to announce new chapter officers including Nominating and Governance Committee Chair Ms. Potter, Program Committee Co-Chairs Wendy Beecham and Bob McCormick, and Sponsorship Committee Chair Dennis Schmal. She remarked that the chapter of more than 1,000 members plans on becoming more active this season with the addition of three new peer-to-peer special interest groups that meet regularly to discuss timely boardroom issues.

The chapter will kick off the new program season on September 26 featuring Scott Kupor, Andreessen Horowitz, and Sukhinder Singh Cassidy as moderator, to discuss technology trends and board strategy and the impact of disruption.

"We are very excited about kicking off the 2017-2018 program season with Scott and Sukhinder—both inspiring speakers," said Ms. Beebe. "We have a number of other very topical programs coming up that will be announced soon. I hope all of our chapter members will do their best to participate in at least one of our events this year."
