Intel Reportedly Mulls Broadcom Bid
"Intel is considering several acquisition possibilities in response to Broadcom's $117 billion bid for Qualcomm, including the possibility it may make a bid for Broadcom," reports the EE Times (March 12, McGrath). Intel has reportedly been working with advisors since December to formulate an acquisition strategy that would offset Broadcom's bid. If Broadcom ultimately succeeds, the publication states, it "would further redraw a semiconductor industry landscape already undergoing drastic changes as a result of a wave of mega-consolidation over the past few years." In 2017, Intel ranked second in global semiconductor sales with revenue of $62.8 billion.
