SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., April 3, 2018 – The Northern California Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the advocate for the profession of directorship, has elected Ray Rothrock to its board of directors.
Ray Rothrock is the chairman and CEO of RedSeal, Inc., a company providing enterprises with a network modeling and risk scoring platform that measures and improves resilience to cyber events and network interruptions. He is partner emeritus of tech investment firm Venrock and a member of numerous boards, including Check Point Software Technology (NASDAQ: CHKP) and Roku, Inc. (NASDAQ: ROKU).
Mr. Rothrock’s book, Digital Resilience: Is Your Company Ready for the Next Cyber Threat?, is launching this spring. In 2018, he will continue to advocate for digital resilience at events nationwide, including the MIT-(IC)3 Spring 2018 Workshop on April 4, the SEC Academic Conference on Cybersecurity on April 9, and the Capital Science Evening Lecture at the Carnegie Institution for Science on May 23.
Nominations and Governance Chair Nora Denzel comments, “Ray is a true pioneer in the cybersecurity industry, a champion of digital resilience, and a devotee to good corporate governance as both a sitting CEO and experienced board member. We are excited to welcome him to our board of directors. We believe his background in corporate governance and his expertise in cybersecurity and digital resilience will be extremely valuable as NACD Northern California expands and further supports better board governance."
Executive Director Lisa Spivey states, “I am extremely pleased with Ray’s election. I am especially proud to see our Nominating and Governance Committee, headed by Nora Denzel, identifying and recruiting new board talent and future chapter leadership that will help us continue to deliver solid governance practice and high-quality thought leadership to our membership.”
Chapter Chair Dennis Wu adds, "Ray Rothrock will bring additional strength and depth to our board with his deep knowledge of Silicon Valley. Our board—much like those public, private, and not-for-profit entities on whose boards we serve—brings a competitive advantage to NACD as a whole, as we support its relevance and growth in a fast-changing world."
In addition, Mr. Rothrock is serving as a commissioner on the NACD Blue Ribbon Commission. This annual initiative shapes national organizations’ programming and thought leadership each year. In 2018, the Commission is exploring board oversight of complex risks that are difficult to identify and can carry major consequences for companies’ long-term value.
