SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 10, 2019) - The NACD Northern California chapter is pleased to announce the addition of Cathy Benko to its board of directors. Nora Denzel, chair of the Nominations and Governance Committee, said “Cathy’s knowledge of Silicon Valley will allow us to expand our success as the fastest growing chapter in the National NACD chapter system.”
Chair Dennis Wu noted that he has known Benko since the beginning of her career and has been impressed at all she has accomplished, as well as in her consulting leadership skills with many of the most influential organizations.
A former Deloitte Vice Chairman and Managing Principal, and a leader in its “Digital Giants” practice, Benko is well known for guiding highly respected global businesses in driving transformational efforts.
Appointed as Deloitte Consulting’s first global e-Business leader and subsequently serving as its Technology Sector Leader, Benko was instrumental in positioning the firm’s services and capability development for the post-internet marketplace. She subsequently went on to serve as Deloitte’s first Chief Talent Officer (CHRO) where she devised a more agile and inclusive career development model. As the leader of Deloitte’s award-winning Women’s Initiative and broader Inclusion focus, Benko led vanguard efforts that spurred innovation in diversity. Cathy then went on to lead brand, reputation, digital and citizenship functions where she helped lay the groundwork for the profession-leading market position Deloitte enjoys today.
Cathy serves on NIKE, Inc’s board of directors, the advisory councils of several early stage and private companies and has an exemplary record of nonprofit Board service. Cathy is also a U.S. patent holder and best-selling author of three books each published by Harvard Press. She has been frequently acknowledged for her professional achievements including Consulting Magazine’s “Frontline Leader,” “25 Most Influential Consultants” and the publication’s inaugural “Leadership Achievement Award” for Women Leaders and was inducted into the San Francisco Business Times Forever Influential Honor Roll.
She received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science from Ramapo College, which recently recognized her with its Distinguished Citizenship award.
The NACD Northern California Chapter won the Outstanding Membership Engagement Award at the 2019 Global Board Leaders’ Summit and is looking forward to having Benko continue to increase member engagement through her vast network of large Bay-Area organizations.
