More than 100 Northern California Chapter members attended the 2018 NACD Global Board Leaders' Summit—the largest gathering of directors in the world—in Washington, DC, September 29–October 2. The number of speakers representing our region was phenomenal. Among them were Cheemin Bo-Linn, Emily Chang, Nora Denzel, Adam Epstein, Guy Kaz, Jen McClure, Bob McCormick, John Pomfret, Ray Rothrock, Mark Silva, Shiv Sing, Christa Steele, and Amy Wilkinson. Also in attendance were a number of our board members: Nora Denzel, John Hotta, Bob McCormick, Mary Jo Potter, Ray Rothrock, Dennis Schmal, Dennis Wu, Lydia Beebe (emeritus), and Lisa Spivey (executive director).
At Summit this year, there was a strong focus on chapters and chapter development. During the Chapter Presidents’ Breakfast, NACD presented awards recognizing particularly high-achieving chapters for their hard work and advancement during the 2017–2018 program year. The NACD Northern California Chapter was honored to receive the award for Attendance Improvement.

At the Sip and Savor chapter cocktail reception, attendees from all 21 chapters gathered, and each chapter manned its own station. It was gratifying to see so many Northern California Chapter members networking with colleagues from other parts of the country and discussing key issues.
