We will be hosting an off-the-record, private dinner in San Francisco for openly LGBTQ board directors on June 5, 2019.
Dear NACD Northern California members:
Last week we met as a board and renewed our commitment to cultivating a chapter that encouragesdiversity and inclusion in all areas. Those of you who attend our programs know that we strive for this through both program attendance and panelist selections.
In the past year, we have launched a chapter ambassador program to encourage more women to obtain board seats, and we collaborated with several organizations that support women. We also successfully partnered with pan-Asian groups, including the Committee of 100 and Ascend Pinnacle, to increase the number of Asian directors in the board pipeline and at the boardroom table.
We are taking a fresh approach to board composition at our May 7 and 8 programs, focusing on increasing the number of younger people on boards. These programs will feature a great panel of young board members and focus on a study that shows their increasing contribution to board effectiveness. We will discuss mentoring, succession planning, and how to meet the right candidates to diversify your board’s skill-set.
Furthering our commitment to diversity and inclusion, the NACD Northern California Chapter is also working on outreach activities for the LGBTQ community. We will be hosting a private dinner on June 5 in San Francisco and welcome you, other friends, and colleagues who meet this profile to join us. Our goal is to continue building a network that is inclusive of LGBTQ directors in the boardroom.
NACD Northern California wants to be at the forefront of diversity and inclusion on boards, and I know that you, our members, will help us accomplish this.
Please request an invitationif you are interested in attending the June 5 LGBTQ dinner.
As always, please feel free to contact us about any an all diversity initiatives and ideas.
